We are blessed to be protected by the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second longest barrier reef in the world. It runs parallel to the Yucatan Peninsula. In Puerto Morelos, the reef is closer to the shore than in other areas of the Riviera Maya. In 1998, this section of the reef became a protected wildlife reserve.

To protect the reef, all snorkelers and divers must go out to the reef with accredited guides

I’m a Mexican Canadian who has been living off the grid in Puerto Morelos for the last 20 years. Like you, I love to travel. I’ve been to places as diverse as Papua New Guinea, Europe, Brazil, Saint Martin & all over Mexico. I have 2 kids and I am a widow to Antonio, the architect who gave life to Aldea Bek. For the last 15 years, I’ve worked assisting couples to achieve natural birth as a doula and health researcher. I even presented at TEDxCancun in 2015. Health maintenance and illness prevention are my twin passions. Since 2016 I assist people with their health challenges with a focus on creating healthy habits that lead to a long health span.
