The space

Sol is the Spanish word for sun. In Mayan it would be “Q’ij”. 

For the Mayans, Kinich Ahau (K’inich Ajaw) is the Yucatec name of the sun god.

We selected the name for this bungalow as we know most of our guests are looking to come to our part of the world in search for sun and warmth.

Sol is the only independent unit on our property and we hope you enjoy that feature of this space.

Be sure to take advantage of your private entrance to the garden as well as your more secluded garden area.

In Sol you have your own private entrance, bathroom and kitchenette.

We have taken the time to look for healthy cooking materials.

All the pots are stainless steel. We have also included a Teflon pan -If you are used to cooking on it.

Please let us know if you need any special equipment for your cooking needs. If it is possible for us, we will be happy to oblige.

We have 4 studio units in 1 spacious lot.

This means a big green area with local trees and plants to breathe and relax during your vacation.

Each unit has its private designated outdoor area.

Sol has a very private space just outside the door with its shade palapa.

We ask that guests respect the designated outdoor area of other visitors.

We are located 2 blocks south from the central town park and all the local restaurants, 1 block away from a big supermarket for groceries and 1 street off the beach on the quiet side of town: fantastic location (less touristy but still only 5 minutes away from the center of action).

All the units are clean, efficient and newly renovated.

My husband, as an architect, designed every detail to make it functional and cozy.

There are few places in Puerto with this much outdoor garden area to enjoy and that is what we wanted for every guest staying in Aldea Bek, to be able to enjoy nature as well as all the amenities we have to offer.

There is parking at the entrance of the property and there is a taxi station 100 meters away from the door.

We have lived in the vicinity since 2002 and love to share our town and the area with travelers, so we will be in contact with you every step of the way, we live fairly close to Aldea, so any inquiry you have just send us a message!

In Sol, you’ll have access to your private suite with all the amenities described below (including a private garden area) as well as the shared garden areas in the middle of the property.

Location

Secluded enough for a relaxing retreat, yet within walking distance from Puerto Morelo’s central plaza:

  • 22 minute car ride from/to Cancun International Airport
  • 300 meters (2 blocks) away from Chedraui Supermarket
  • 450 meters (3 blocks) away from the main square with restaurants and shopping
  • 600 meters (4 blocks) away from the beach
  • 8 minute car ride to Alfredo Barrera Marín Botanical Garden 
  • 20 minute car ride to Selvatica Adventure Park
  • 30 minute car ride to Cenote Mojarras, the first one in the famous Ruta de los Cenotes

Check-In & Access

We will contact you close to check in to ask about arrival time.

We will provide all the information necessary about our exact location and how to get to our property. 

We know traveling  and airport schedules can be unpredictable sometimes, that is why we will provide all the instructions for check in and we will be there once you get there to provide with all the information you need.

Contactless check in can also be arranged if you prefer.

Parking

You can park comfortably at the entrance of our property outside our gate. 

We do not provide private parking inside the property.

Cleaning

Aldea Bek – Sol includes one shift of full cleaning for guests that stay 14 nights or longer, in this shift your sheets and towels will be cleaned.

Sheets, towels and blankets are provided at check-in. 

Guests manage their own personal laundry service (there are laundry shops super close).

Guests have to take out their own trash when needed, our blue cans are located just beside the gate.

Cleaned with disinfectant. COVID-19 guidelines apply

Payment

You can book your stay online on our website, credit card payment, no commissions, easy!

Cash payments or Bank Transfers are also accepted. If the payment is in mexican pesos please ask about the current conversion rate.

Paypal payments have an extra 6% that will be added to the final rate of your stay.

Cancellation Policy

For any online refund a 4 to 7% commission applies plus currency conversion differences between the date of reservation and the date the refund is being made.

  • If you cancel within 20 days of arrival or more, 70% of the entire stay will be refunded.
  • If you cancel between 19 days and 14 before your arrival, 70% of the entire stay will be refunded.
  • If you cancel between 13 and 8 days before your arrival, 50% of the entire stay will be refunded.
  • If you cancel between 7 and 1 day before your arrival 25% of the entire stay will be refunded.
  • If you cancel on the same day of your arrival or you don’t show no refund will be done.

About us

Miranda

Hello! My name is Miranda. I’m a Mexican Canadian who has been living off the grid in Puerto Morelos for the last 20 years. Like you, I love to travel. I've been to places as diverse as Papua New Guinea, Europe, Brazil, Saint Martin & all over Mexico. I have 2 kids and I am a widow to Antonio, the architect who gave life to Aldea Bek.   For the last 15 years, I've worked assisting couples to achieve natural birth as a doula and health researcher. I even presented at TEDxCancun in 2015. Health maintenance and illness prevention are my twin passions.  Since 2016 I assist people with their health challenges with a focus on creating healthy habits that lead to a long health span. I hope to meet interesting people who also like to travel and grow, making the world a smaller place to live.

I stayed in El Sol for 7 nights. It is very simple, but has everything you need. The location is fantastic – just blocks from the plaza and the beach. Right near the action, but quiet! It property is behind a gate, so you step into a safe, private oasis with your own garden space. I highly recommend it!

This was a lovely space which included nice touches such as aroma therapy, quality kitchenware, small cooler, coffee maker and electric kettle. Miranda responded quickly to any questions. The space was Very Well taken care of, inside and out. I appreciated that the windows had screens, the quiet ceiling fan, and the air conditioner. The individual palapa and garden space was also very nice. Miranda has prepared a booklet with information and recommendations that was helpful. I will recommend this rental to my friends.

Miranda’s place is wonderful… it’s a little casita inside a private gate with a lovely courtyard we used a lot! There is a table there in the gardens which is perfect for having coffee in the morning. It’s a very short walk to the main plaza. She has everything you would need in there and lots of great local instructions and tips. We would stay here again for sure and will probably book for next year! Very very good value!

This place is great. Super clean, super comfortable. The space has pretty much all that you need if you want to stay in (well equipped kitchen, large bed, hot shower, speedy wifi, lots of fresh water). Miranda is also very attentive and responds very quickly with whatever need you may have. Location was good too; we liked being in the quieter part of town, but it didn’t matter since everything is quite accessible by walking. Loved staying here, highly recommend, hope to return!

This is a Casita as described. It’s not small, just right for what it is. The bathroom is very nice. The kitchen is really meant for light work. The location is just right. The neighborhood is mixed and ambiance is mellow. Noice levels are low. I think the economy was very acceptable. – Peter

This is a nice budget option in Puerto Morelos. Basic accommodations with a good amount of space. There’s a full-size grocery store a 5-minute walk away, and the best part of the beach is just another 10 minutes beyond that. The only noise is dogs barking, ubiquitous in the Caribbean! – Patricia

Everything about Miranda’s place is charming. From a very good quality/ safe (glass, stainless steel) appliances to small things like sponges for washing dishes, salt, sugar, coffee, tea etc. Sparkling clean. The garden area is wonderful. You feel like you are in manicured jungle. Native plants including Noni tree (it’s considered to be a super food) provide a shade for your meals if you wish to eat outside.

Miranda and Antonio went above and beyond helping me with my countless requests. I felt very taken care of. When I lost my keys, Miranda left her job to come to my rescue right away.

I enjoyed the location too. You live among locals, being really immersed in their wonderful culture. The taxi and bus stop is next door, beach 5 minutes away, the best yoga/meditation place with amazing views – Layla Guest House is 4 minutes away. The beach on that side is deserted, not commercial at all, which I absolutely loved. It’s not as manicured as other side, but it’s a real beach, you feel very close to nature.

Nice, clean and quiet. I liked the peaceful garden. The beache, the bars and the restaurants are only few blocks away.
